p.s. “Don’t” is a contraction of “do” and “not,” thus requiring an apostrophe in the place of the second “o.”

Actually, this post pisses me off big time!!! We don’t need to be surprised if men can think of being everything but feminists if we as female feminists can’t make the distinction between ‘Hey, he’s meaning well and this common basis could help us to turn him into a strong ally of this movement’ and ‘Wow, that asshole really thinks we’re the scum of the earth and on top of it, he really dares to tell me what to do’.
Evidently and unfortunately, we don’t have people flocking to join the feminist movement, which means that we are not at all in the position to drive away people just because their support is worded in a manner which doesn’t suit our various interpretations of feminism or - as evidenced by above example - seems to encourage some women to avidly look for things to still be offended about/feel patronized by.
In all honesty, above example is what makes the movement look ridiculous to some and this is why a lot of men don’t even bother to show their support. If they have to fear that every well-meant, supportive gesture is torn to shreds and ridiculed by the know-all feminists, it’s no wonder that they’ll decide to stick to what they know/learned and instead of stepping out of their comfort zone by supporting unpopular views in a patriarchal society, they just think ‘fuck it’.
The world is full of men who wouldn’t even think for a second to make a statement like the boy above, so why discourage the very few who do so?

We’re doing ourselves a disservice and really don’t need to wonder why feminism is a subject most men don’t want anything to do with.
